Of Pearl of Orient

Just a small update, this site isn't dead yet as it still have a healthy influx of visitors and some did drop a nice courtesy email sharing they had the same thought and our last article commentaries pretty much confirms some of their thoughts. Had many emails explaining where is his latest whereabouts, and yes we are aware he has move his ventures to a nice colonial building up north in Malaysia in an island called Penang, but we're not that interested to expose it mainly : i) The business by itself is not a scam at the moment. ii) He's not the majority shareholder of the business. The controlling shareholder and director is a veteran in the investing industry and I believe has some business sense to tell whether he's being taken advantage or not.  So just to acknowledge that we know, but we are also being fair. In the business world, due diligence and transparency is everything.

Curious case of TransferFriend and Herkki Valiste

As mention in the previous post, in 2021 we suddenly get a surge of hits on this blog and some queries. We noted interest in TransferFriend and its founder, Herkki Valiste may have stem from a recent article that came out in an Estonian news site. Unfortunately the site is behind a paywall, but us employees decided to pay for the article and give some additional commentaries about this. Original article can be found here (behind a paywall) : https://ekspress.delfi.ee/artikkel/94051527/salaparane-idufirma-tombas-investoritele-ja-tipp-poliitikule-koti-pahe below is a google translation of the article. Translated content in black while former employees give their comments in red : Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, September 2017. Taavi Rõivas , Deputy Speaker of the Riigikogu and IT-friendly former Prime Minister, is on an infamous visit with the Estonian business delegation to Malaysia and Singapore, from which the so-called refrigerator scandal will later break out. Turns our ...

TransferFriend, TransferFiend

When we decided to close this blog on 14th December 2018, we asked ourselves "What now and for what reason do we need to keep this blog active?" Simple, if we ever hear any more of Herkki Valiste and his TransferFriend exploits after that date, we will reactivate this blog again. For the next 3 years, there was some activities, but mostly from curious anonymous people clarifying for some information. A lot of them seems to query about Herkki Väliste 's ownership or TransferFriend in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Since so many queries about that matter, we simply put up company registration documents up on this blog. This was in 2019. February 2021 we suddenly receive notification from blogger that the post which contain Herkki Valiste ownership has been taken down, citing "personal data issue". Fair enough, this blog is subject to international law, but the information we posted is not illegal. Company details is public and can be purchased by anyone. The ...

Of The Valisteway, Herkki Valiste and the case of TransferFriend

We notice this page has been constantly getting hits from google especially when users are searching for the keyword "Herkki Valiste" or "TransferFriend".  While it may sounds confusing, allow us to introduce ourselves. We are previously the 'employees' of 'TransferFriend'. We report to Herkki Valiste who acts as the Chairman of the company and pretty much control the day to day operation of TransferFriend.  Towards the end many of TransferFriend staff quit due to Herkki Valiste unethical way of conducting a business and the constant issue with breaking local laws and unpaid salary to employee, and hence this blog was created to record his exploits. Once all of the staff was finally paid their due salary we cleared all the information here, thinking he should deserve a second chance. However we retain many of the records of his wrong doings to date. However lately we've been contacted by journalist to enquire more about Herkki Valiste and the cas...

Mission Accomplished : Parting Thoughts

After much consideration we've decided that this blog has fully served its purpose. We believe that although the man has done wrong, everyone deserve a chance at redemption. I think that should the man of the moment decided to continue his ways, there will be other reports to haunt him and we declare that for now, the case is done. We believe that the most effective action to do now is to educate the public and people around us on how to avoid dodgy companies and irresponsible founders. While we still get some healthy amount of visitors to our blog, mostly whom we think are recurring visitors we would like to thank you for the interest whatever reason you have to come to our site everyday, but we believe it's time to move on, focus on working out good company practice and improve ourselves. We will continue to be on the lookout for such dodgy companies in our country and rest assured, should we find a business that is raising red flags in our country, be sure that we will c...
